The Ballroom Classby Lucy Dillon.
If you’re a fan of dancing shows or you’ve always wanted to learn dancing but something has held you back…..then this is the audio book for you! The Ballroom Class written by Lucy Dillon, will get your foot tapping and your heart racing… and the excellent reading by Jilly Bond brings each characeter to life with warmth and humour.
This light-hearted romance explores the lives of a group of people who join a dance class…all in search of something…..but as the novel deftly unfolds the reader learns that the lessons they take are not not necessarily the lessons they learn!
The story is set in a small English Town – and Angelica, a former professional dancer returns home after the death of her mother and decides to starts a Ballroom Dancing Class. She has had a very succesful dancing career but her relationships have always failed. She finds herself running away, yet again – back to the place where it all began…to face the music.
Her dancing class attracts a small group of participants. Lauren and Chris, a young engaged couple, are preparing for their wedding, but their pre-wedding gitters and misgivings are an unexpected development. Lauren’s parents Bridget and Frank are happily married but Bridget is hiding a secret that could shatter their happy existence. Katie and Ross’ marriage is in trouble and they lead separate lives. The Ballroon Class brings this disparate group of people together – all listening to the same music but all dancing to a different beat.
This novel explores human relationships and as we follow each character on their individual journey; we experience their highs, their lows, their disappointments and lost opportunities. The characters are developed with depth, skill and great insight, and this reader could hardly wait to unravel the secret hopes and dreams as well as experience the unexpected twists that this novel delivers right to the end.
The Ballroom Class is the second Lucy Dillon audio book I have listened to I must admit that I’m hooked. I love her style, her wit and expertise and the way she weaves magic and hope into the lives of her characters… and those who are lucky enough to get to know them.
