Not Dead Enough

Not  Dead Enough  by Peter James.

Post by Robyne55.

not dead enoughIs there anything better  than a British detective? After you read this novel your answer will be no, for Roy Grace is a cracker and he is just one of a list of great characters in this story. I really think he is on a par with the wonderful Morse and I hope someone makes these novels into a T.V. show. As well as Roy there is his sidekick Glenn Branson and his girlfriend  Cleo. One of the elements that makes the difference between a good and a great read is how the reader relates to the characters. These people could have “Facebook “ pages and I would want to friend them.

As for the plot, when a villain kills Brighton socialite Katie Bishop the race is on to find the killer. When it appears that Ray has done just that there is some relief. However the body count rises, so do the red herrings and the mystery deepens. Say no more, after all it is a mystery. The only real problem I had with this story is that I found the ending a bit too predictable, or is it that I read to much crime. This did not detract from the plot in any way as there are enough subplots to keep up the suspence.

If you love a good British murder mystery give the Peter James/Roy Grace series a go. A word of warning – they are not for the faint hearted, as much of the action takes place in the morgue. Perhaps not for everyone, but Roys girlfriend Cleo is a mortuary tech. and these scenes are very graphic.

I love this book and recommend it – with a caution for the squeamish.

Thanks Robyn/Shirl – I needed an alternative to Peter Robinson and it sounds like I have found it. Going to put it on hold right now. :)
