Not Jules but I'm a Sherlock fan too. I consider Elementary to be a completely separate show - it itself is "all right" and its on my Sunday night viewing program but its not Sherlock Holmes - just a show 'inspired' by Holmes and is interesting. But if Sherlock was on at the same time as Elementary - and I could only watch one, Sherlock would be my pick.

I absolutely loved the latest Sherlock Holmes by the BBC - just called "Sherlock"
, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman and set in modern London. The dialogue is witty and the use of modern technology to solve the crimes is great. Can't wait for the new series to arrive.

Hi Kerry1: could you mention to your friend we also have Going Straight? It's the series that follows on Porridge.

My favourite TV Series we have on DVD? Pushing Daisies. Well, Doctor Who, obviously, but that aside: I really liked Pushing Daisies and was so sorry when it finished.

And yet, it sounds like fun. Plus I was intrigued by the review you wrote in your monthly book journalling about the Vorksoigan saga. I do, very occasionally, read sci-fi fiction although it would be a gross distortion of truth to imply I was even a dilettante in regards to the genre. Still, I might just slide a little hold onto that anthology...

Sounds like just the thing for me, thanks sophieanna. I have just finished reading A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and it was so very, very excellent that I am entirely in the mood for some more good fiction for teens.

I just read a review of the book on another site, and they make the point that the dinner party is a lot funnier if you've read the earlier books in the series, because you then know the histories of each of the characters. That's true, I suppose...still, if you mostly want Regency romance and a bit of scifi smashed together, you may not want to trek through "Brothers in Arms", "Mirror Dance", "Komarr" and "Memory" to get here.
