The Barefoot Book of Classic Poems
The Barefoot Book of Classic Poems compiled and illustrated by Jackie Morris.
If you love poetry, you will enjoy this beautifully illustrated book of lovely poems by authors such as William Wordsworth, Lilian Moore, W. B. Yeats, John Donne and Rudyard Kipling. Some of my favourites are from Lewis Carrolls ‘Alice in Wonderland’, and this book includes ‘The Jabberwocky’ and the Lobster Quadrille (“Will you walk a little faster?” said a whiting to a snail. “There’s a porpoise close behind us, and he’s treading on my tail”…Will you, won’t you, will you, won’t you, will you join the dance?) , from Carroll.
It is a lovely book from which to introduce children to the joys of classic poetry which, like me, you may have heard from your grandparents!
