Read it aloud with Dr Seuss

We’ve had a whole lot of Seusstacular fun this week in our libraries, celebrating Dr Seuss Day.

Stories were read, games were played and cake was eaten. You can check out some very cute cats in their hats on our Facebook page.

If you are twisting your whiskers because you missed out, never fear! There’s more Seussical fun today for kids at Helensvale Branch Library 10am – 11am and at Robina Branch Library 1.30pm – 2.30pm. Nerang Branch Library will host their party on Thursday 19 March 3.30pm – 4.30pm.

And, of course, Dr Seuss is suitable for every day of the year.
Our 15 book challenge for 2015 also includes the category of a book that you read aloud.
So, get yourself an audience and regale them with a classic Dr Seuss. You can choose from perennial favourites such as:

Or, go with the recommendation of one of our Elanora Branch Library staff members who submitted this review of Oh, The Places You’ll Go:

This book inspires me every time I read it and I think it should be used a gift at all graduations and 18th birthdays.
As a child I loved the silly pictures and rhyming as he tells the story of life’s ups and downs with humour and positivity.

As an adult I am inspired by Dr Seuss’ “life philosophy” as readers are encouraged to make our own decisions, choose our own path as we deal with life’s setbacks.

It is motivational, whimsical and uplifting.
It’s a book I have read over and over again at different ages and periods in my life. It reminds readers that although life can be tough and lonely, if we persevere and make the right choices there is no limit to the “places we can go”.

What’s your favourite Dr Seuss story?
