Rivertime written and illustrated by Trace Balla.
Rivertime is the story of a ten year old boy and his Uncle who set off on a 10 day canoe trip down Victoria’s Glenelg River. This comic style book has been shortlisted in the Picture Book category for this year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia awards. A hesitant Clancy finds it hard to comprehend how he is going to spend ten days in a canoe. How will he watch TV? What about the computer? And why is Uncle Egg so enthusiastic about all this? Trace Balla’s whimsical illustrations take us on a journey of discovery as Clancy starts to connect with the environment around him. Through this adventure with his uncle and the people they meet along the river’s edge, Clancy begins to realise he can enjoy the wilderness and learn some survival skills along the way.
