The Farm by Tom Rob Smith
By Michele and Katie
The farm by Tom Rob Smith is a psychological thriller that was inspired by events that happened in the author’s own life. The story centres on Daniel, a twenty something who lives in London with his partner Mark. Daniel’s parents have recently moved to a remote farm in Sweden, his mother’s homeland. He believes everything is going well until one day he receives a chilling phone call from his father to say that Daniel’s mother is suffering from a psychotic break and has been admitted to a psychiatric facility in Sweden.
Then his mother calls, she has been released from the hospital and is on her way to London. She tells Daniel that everything his Dad has said is a lie. Everything Daniel thought he knew about his parents is thrown into disarray and he must search for answers.
This novel will keep you guessing to the very end as you follow Daniel’s quest to find out the truth. As more of the story is revealed and the intrigue builds, it is hard to put down.
Smith is also the author of the award-winning novel Child 44, which was made into a movie with Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman.
