Career Of Evil
Career Of Evil by Robert Galbraith.
This book is the entertaining third novel written by J. K. Rowling under her pseudonym of Robert Galbraith, and it is both a mystery and a thriller.
When arriving at work one day, Robin is handed a package that she assumes is a box of disposable cameras to be given out at her impending wedding. When she opens the package, Robin discovers a severed leg jammed inside. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, can think of at least four people from his past who would be capable of brutality and who had a grudge against him. As the police start to focus increasingly on a suspect that Cormoran and Robin believe is not the killer, they begin investigating the crime themselves. The killer strikes two more times during the investigation, before attacking Robin herself (his real target). With the police uncooperative and suspicious of Strike, they are under increasing pressure to find and stop the killer before more horrendous acts occur…
This book sees the relationship between Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott developing, with each obviously more attracted to the other than to their own partners. We learn more about Strike’s difficult early life with his groupie mother, and the secret that Robin carries about why she dropped out of university is finally explained.
