Dregs by Jørn Lier Horst
It’s definitely time to celebrate with the emergence of another elite Nordic crime writer with a powerful and authentic protagonist.
Police Inspector William Wisting is head of crime investigations in Larvik, Norway. His latest case has the reader immersed in the randomness of clues from the start as severed feet start washing up on beaches in this small coastal town. William and his team find themselves revisiting missing persons cases from the year before and robberies from decades past as they try to get some understanding of exactly what and who they may be dealing with, and the gripping escalation towards the conclusion will have any crime lover enthralled. The novel is beautifully translated from Norwegian by Anne Bruce, and her flowing, easy prose makes for a very enjoyable read. This book is currently available as a Hot Read at your local City of Gold Coast Library.
